I'm writing a Resume to apply for a Retail Assistant position and i'm describing the duties that i was required to do in my old job? Now the issue is the wording of my duties as i'm not completely confident with the way to describe what i used to do... So I worked at a video store; Working the till, putting people's details into a database & signing up new customers, i dealt with customer assistance and basically scanning the items into the computer, putting their money into the till then giving the person their change? I basically worked as the sales person.. Now iv'e written that my job title was Retail Assistant & Customer Service.. I just don't know how to the duties into a nice list for my resume. Thank you!

Yes, I know what you're thinking... Dogs can't talk, you're an idiot. I know they can't converse with us verbally, but they have other ways of communicating and expressing themselves. As a dog trainer I believe myself to have the ability to "read" what a dog is trying to say. For example: Today while I was working at my part time job, a lady known for training service dog pups came in with one of her most recent black lab pups. She's a very cross and bitter sort of person, and I usually try to avoid her (those of you who have ever worked in retail know what I mean). However, I was the only one available at the moment. I asked her if she needed help, and she refused to make eye contact as she grumbled a no. The pup, I noticed was doing what he was supposed to be doing, standing by her side patiently waiting for her next command. I took my leave to let her store, but wasn't very far off. While standing at the counter I noticed how lifeless the puppy's eyes were. He looked unhappy and defeated, head hung and body sagging. I felt bad for this little guy, and finally our eyes met. It was if I was reading a book when I looked at the expression on his face. It was as if he was saying "She doesn't hear to me/ She just doesn't understand". It broke my heart. My co-worker came back from lunch and engaged her, asking how the dog was doing in his training. This was the confirmation I needed that told me I was 100% right. She said "This dog is stupid and slow. He's not doing sh*t. I can't wait to receive rid of him." I was floored. I was then forced to watch her "work"the pup as she maneuvered the store, and every I could do is stand there and bite my tongue as I watched that brave puppy endure her harsh and mad commands as best his little self could manage. I don't consider myself a "dog whisperer" or anything, but I've worked with them long enough that I've become familiar with their facial expressions and body language enough to know what they're trying to tell me. I am a firm believer that if a puppy or dog (aside from aggression rehabilitation or other behavior problems like this) doesn't like the training, you're doing something wrong. Do any of you have similar experiences you'd like to share? Do you know what I'm saying when I say I feel like I can "read" what a dog is saying? Do you feel that you have that same level of connection with your dogs? I'm just curious. Today's event is what spurred this question. There are soo many dog owners out there who don't know their possess dogs, but I want to hear from those of you that do.
If i moved to the Isle of Wight would i have to pay the ferry charge every time i wished to go back to the mainland?? This would prove to be very expensive if i worked in Southampton etc wouldn't it?Or if i wished to go shopping t the major retail centres? It would turn into a prison if i couldn't afford the ferry fee's wouldn't it??? Isn't there a rebate for residents? I guess living on the Isle of Wight would be like being a convict being transported over to the colonies.. Once there you have to pay for your possess return!!!!
I'm starting a new business importing a home decor/gift product. I would like to initially sell it wholesale to gift shops and other retail stores, but I would also like to be able to sell it direct to the consumer via the internet... Are the downfalls to this? Would my retail customers not like the competition of having the goods sold to consumers via my website? Yes I know what a wholesaler does and yes I know how goods travel down the supply chain. But a wholesaler can also sell goods as a retailer as well. He is his possess supplier, therefore keeping more of the profit. I just didn't know if how other retailers would look on this.

I have formed an LLC in Michigan and plan to purchase office/store supplies and retail products from Indiana. The Indiana vendor gave me a sales tax exemption certificate form to fill out and return. What happens next? Do I NOT have to pay sales tax in Indiana and just report it on my michigan sales tax form? Or do I pay then receive credit later ? Also, am I subject to use tax? If I weren't purchasing supplies, and just purchased retail items is there a difference? Thanks the retail products are to be sold to the customer.
My boyfriend is a great person. He's a good listener and he's very caring. He likes to cuddle and he likes to buy me gifts. The problem is, he's..well, girly. He will not do anything labor intensive. I've had to clean the backyard, by myself, two years in a row because he saw a spider out there once and he's afraid of spiders. In fact, he's also afraid of wasps and bees and when one flew in the home he tried to run. A lightbulb burned out in the kitchen a while back and recently he asked me why I don't replace it. I was like "Uh, because I'm 5'5 and you're 6'4 and the ceiling is 8 feet hight so it's your job" and he still hasn't done it. His idea of helping around the home is going shopping and buying soap, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies. When we moved in, with the exception of helping unload the truck, I had to move every of the furniture into each room and unpack everything myself. I have to make every of the important decisions and figure out what to do in tough situations because he panics and screams at me to tell him what I want him to do, even when I was dealing with a dying family member, hadn't slept for days, and was stressed beyond belief. He's the same way at work, completely passive. He has worked in retail for 10 years and makes $10 an hour and has never been promoted because he has no leadership skills. Three of my friends made manager within a year and a half. It's like WTF. I feel like I'm dating a lady. If I wanted to be the man of the home I'd be a lesbian. Everytime I try to talk to him about this his voice gets high and he tells me "Well tell me what you want me to do!" Should I tell him bye?
Hello:I need help I live in san diego,ca And I'm looking for some one design Beer store,And If you can tell me what is best decor for beer store((retail store)) please if some one has idea about this job and how much it well cost .Thank you
like many people at the minute, i'm below pressure to receive a part-time job. i've been searching every summer but i've had no luck, just some interviews but no call after :( i've decided to volunteer at a local charity store just to gain some experience. i've done work exp before in a primary school, but i think the reason i'm not getting most jobs i apply for is because i haven't got enough experience in that area. i'm applying for jobs in supermarkets, cafes, shops etc, so I thought it was a good idea to volunteer in a charity store in order to earn some retail experience. my parents said it's a very good idea, but i think they're expecting me to receive a part-time job as well as volunteer. i'm doing a-levels this year, so i want to concentrate as much as i can on those, but i want a job open for me when i need it, like during holidays. i realise now that they go very quickly at christmas/summer so it's best to look for one during term time/school. if i do receive a job, should i leave volunteering? thanks :)
Maybe this is just one of the strands to possible reasons. I'm 30, This may arrive across as forming a stereotype and a generalising view. My thoughts are based on my possess observations and experiences. Not every, but when I go to certain places in and around town, sometimes, the level of service coming from retail store staff in the suspected age bracket of 17-22 is of sheer ignorance and robotic. I know this is easy to say in hindsight and ofcourse, one would deem this as biased, but when I was 18, up to 26/27 in the retail trade, my service was second-to-none and pure heart-on-sleeve. As I say, not every individuals are like this. It's mainly female store staff that are targeted in my view of this post, though in saying that, some are actually nice and genuinely friendly. I'm just thinking in general terms whether the influx and the 'dominance' of social networking is having a detrimental effect on networking and actual socializing between say man and lady, face to face. I'm not going to bring into the equation pubs and clubs, because any lady can become alive and kicking below untrue pretences after a few drinks. Do people have similar views to myself ??? Thanks in advance
I found a Mike hart Michigan jersey that had a suggested retail of 150.00, on the tag it says over the bar code. Hi, I recently had a problem with a computer with XP Pro installed. I sent in the computer to a repair store and they rang me up later saying they needed to reinstall windows. I didn't give them my install disc so they said they would use their possess. Once I got my PC back I tried to activate windows using my product key, but the wizard says it is invalid. My PC originally had counterfeit windows on it (I was unaware of this for over a year), so I had to purchase a copy off microsofts website. It was a genuine advantage kit. I am trying to use this key to activate windows. After some research I have a suspicion that perhaps the store used an OEM windows CD and so my key doesn't work. I really don't want to pay for another reinstall of windows, nor do I want to reinstall every my programs AGAIN. How can I activate my copy of windows without a reinstall. In case it matters, my retail CD has SP2 installed on it while my computer has been installed with a CD with SP3 on it. Thanks.

I've mostly been applying to retail, food (ice cream shops, pizza places, cafes), and hospitality (hotels, nursing homes, etc), but I haven't gotten any response. No interviews, nothing. I have good educational experience, however I have never had a formal job. I've volunteered here and there, but nothing ongoing. I'm thinking that it will be easier once I turn 18. Macy's contacted me, but turned me down for an interview because I was only 17. Their age requirement is 18. Will it be easier to receive interviews at least when I turn 18?
My original AC adapter is broken, so i have to find a new one. I wish to find something compatable for around or below $50. I have no idea how to tell if one will work with my laptop. every of the specs i ca provide is that my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A300 model number: PSAG8C-02W013, and the Toshiba website says my AC adapters specs are: ADP-75SB BB Toshiba Part No: PA3468E-1AC3 (Input 100-240V~1.3A 50-60Hz, Output 19V 3.95A) Three Pins Plug Connector. If anyone can please provide a link to a retail site like Future store or the Source, or a name of any product I can look for, or any info I should look for when buying a new adapter (size of adapter plug, watts, volts, anything I need). only links to Canadian sites please. help is greatly appreciated
I work in a 24 hour retail establishment as an overnight dairy stocker five nights a week from 10pm-7am. Every single (and I mean EVERY) night there are parents with young kids below 12 shopping. I even spot preteens/teens in groups with no parents in sight yelling and causing ruckus. Do they even have a curfew? This isn't just weekends and summer, it's every year round. This usually goes on until 3 or 4am. Most of these kids are obviously very overtired which in turn makes them cranky. Young kids need a consistent schedule. When they act up in stores, parents yell at them and I can't help but feel sorry for them. One time a child about 4 years old was leaning on the yogurt counter I was stocking and then fell into me and hung onto my leg with her eyes closed. They are just screaming and begging to be in bed. Most of these parents don't even realize this. Are they really that greedy that they only think of themselves and when they want to do things? It's not the kids that irritate me, it's this needy decision made by some parents. I'm not personally a parent but it there something I'm missing with this increasingly rising phenomenon? Maybe the parents out there can help me gain some perspective on this? Thanks. If it helps, probably about 50-75 percent of these families do this on a weekly/bi-weekly basis. Every once in a while is a different thing, stuff happens.
Or do you leave them stranded? As a person who works in retail, I'd rather the people leave the carts far away b/c that means I receive to stay outside of the store longer gathering them. Plus I take my time doing it. It's sort of a break in my opinion.
I'm looking for a store where I can buy some tea from 'Whittard from Chelsea', a UK company. I found info there is a retail store of them in Suntec city mall but I couldn't find their name on the lists on Suntec website. Does anyone know if I can buy there? Oh I'm giong to visit to Singapore soon from Japan! Please tell me if someone lives nearby...
I am an 18 year old guy. I work at a retail place as a cashier and literally every person I meet, guy or girl just looks and stares at me when I'm ringing up their clothes and other items...I receive so self conscious and can't concentrate and start turning really really red which I'm sure makes them stare even more. I guess it's because I'm either really young looking or just ugly? If I sum up enough courage to look back they just continue to stare - no smiling or anything, just frowns and an iron stare Literally everyone just stares - stern looking wives, sterner looking husbands, guys my age look like they want to kick my ***... whenever I go shopping with my mom, I never try and "stare down" a freaking cashier wherever we are--in fact, I often look away because I'm timid and shy... what's up with every this staring. and yes, a question the other girl asked reminded me of my possess situation

Everytime I go shopping to the my favorite store, I always wear too much with expensive clothes. This is because the people who works in the retail store dresses expensive and better than me. I tend to make an impression because going there is like going to a fashion parade... And I hate it when I go in the change rooms, I have to take off everything. every the clothes I want to try and the one I'm wearing are so damn messy. Btw, the store I'm talking about is General Pants Co. (Australia) Is there really need to dress impressive to go shopping? Do you do that often too? @Pooja S, you fail at life.

In my city there's a big park over 600 acres close the beach that is both a community park for the people and a wildlife estuary for birds. However, it's very valuable land due to its location -- it's in an affluent area, close the beach, close a marina, close a university, and close luxury condos & shopping areas. And a lot of land developers are itching to build on it. Environmentalists ("liberals") were the ones who prevented it from being built on so it could remain a bird estuary. It now belongs to the state government of California. But capitalist land developers are still trying to override this so they can destroy the estuary and put up condos, retail, and restaurants. Which led me to ponder how it represents an allegory of the ongoing ideological struggle between nutty capitalist conservatives and the "socialist" liberals. The park - a public, not-for-profit area to be shared by the community, which is run & owned by the government to be shared amongst the people. The other side are the capitalist land developers - private enterprises that want to place businesses there for profit, which would compete amongst each other and grow the local economy, providing jobs & services for the people. Ideologically speaking, wouldn't conservatives be against the park since it is run by the government and "socialist", and be in favor of condos & shopping malls placed there instead? Ultimately this just reveals the ridiculousness of conservative ideologues using the world "socialist" or "government" as a scare-tactic, and feel they always must be against government-anything or any social service that is shared amongst the people. Imagine if only capitalist conservatives oversaw the layout of NYC -- government-owned Central Park would not exist... in its place would be more private hotels, bars, apartments, strip clubs, and restaurants. Vidar: Does it matter if it's state or federal? It's still anti-capitalist. Secondly, why not use "federal" in place of "state park" for argument's sake. How does that change my argument at every. A federal park like the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone prevents capitalist land developers from building casinos and high-rise condos & apartments there.
i really needed some well-deserved retail therapy,,,,so it got me thinking... What do you do for therapy when you just broke up with someone? Someone you had really really liked? I myself will go shopping with my BFFs and wallow at home, eating Ben'n'Jerry's..
Hi, I was caught shoplifting at a super-drug store at the age of 15 (i admit it was stupid and i regret this). The store security took mine and my friends details, even though it was my first time they decided to contact the police. (banned from the store also), I was arrested with my pal and we were taken to the police station the day after. When there they asked me why i did it, and they interviewed me. I admitted to the offence and said i was sorry, and the intiviewer there dicided to take my mug shot, DNA and details. I was then taken home and after a week i was demanded to pay the fine from the store. I would like to know if this would go against me in a CRB check if i was to apply to a job e.g retail, or if it is considered a criminal record, or if what i was given was a caution. **I was 15 at the time so i just remember it being a traumatic time. Would this be considered a minor because i was below the age of 16? I would also like to add that i did not go to court, and i was not asked to. However i did pay for the fine, for the store. Thank you, wish you can help. (Live in UK) Thanks for the information so far, but i have read in several online fourms that it would arrive up on a CRB check. ..is this true?. I applied to a retail store job and will receive a CRB check; will this incident arrive up?
I mean they say they are in libraries, in retail stores, in furniture shops etc. So someone could buy something and return it and their B bugs could be in the item. ugh. What say you?

I am right now currently looking for a new phone but I am having second thoughts about going to a cellular retail store when it seems that alot of people I know actually possess pre-paid phones and keep more than on a contracted one. So which one is better to use?
For a long time, i didn't realise that i suffered from OCD. It was only when i was watching a tv programme with a girl who suffered from it did i realise that i might be the same. I worked in retail for 4 and a half years and i really liked the job as it was my first job (but wouldn't want to do retail again) and i worked upstairs in the stockroom not on the store floor. There were time where i would receive so low that i didn't know if i was going to collapse or have a breakdown. It would receive so bad at times, i felt so lonely and useless. I was glad not to be working on the store floor, i was glad that i didn't have to deal with people as at times it would receive so bad that i didn't want to talk to anyone. I am looking for a job but with my situation, i was wondering what type of job would be suitable for me. I want to feel comfortable, i sometimes feel embarrassed with my OCD as i feel like a freak and i want a job that i can feel that i can deal with when i receive really low and i don't have to feel like i have to hide away. i could really do with some help.
I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on writing a cover letter? I am 18 years old and looking for PT work in retail. The vacancy I am interested in is in a sport store. I just adore sport and particularly adore golf and football. My pal works at this particular store so I am hoping that would help towards the application. I was wondering how your would word it properly to say to the manager I have a pal who works there? The description is asking for retail experience as essential but I have not really had any experience apart from work experience at a golf store for a couple of weeks. Thanks everyone
I know when I'm off work I couldn't care less about my responsibilities there until i'm back the next day, and I've been in retail shops and heard their sales staff blatenty lie to customers about our policies and it's none of my business until that customer calls at workme a month later to find out he was lied to in the store. So why do cops put their lives at risk when they are off work and try to foil bank robberies etc when they could just take it easy and look the other way?
I have a little brother who was recently caught store lifting, he only stole like $9 worth of stuff and none of it was damaged at every and it was every returned. The policeman at the store cited him and told him that he is going to receive court orders or w/e in the mail in a couple weeks. Is there any way he could avoid getting a misdemeanor in this situation and maybe do some community service or something to keep his record of 1 misdemeanor class A for vandalism and a truancy ticket from getting any larger? He only 17 years old. He is also wanting to join the army once he turns 18, will his record pose any problem?
Ok, so I have a very part time job -- I do some work for my school's coffee store, but it wasn't like applying for a "real" job... so my question is, how should I go about getting a job elsewhere (I need more hours). I'm 17, a senior in high school, and really need a job. Where I'm working at currently is a student run coffee store, we work the cash register, make coffee drinks, and interact with customers, so I feel that that is every a plus when it comes to getting anything in retail... Fact is, I don't really know where to start looking / what to do? I mean, I have an idea, go to some stores I'm interested in, receive their job applications, turn it back in with a resume / recommendation letters (right?) then wait and look... Am I missing something? Also, with the resume, what every should I put on it? School achievements? Work experience? Internship experience? References? Thanks!
are these places not very conveniant places to store with low prices? please explain what is wrong? what do most people like or dislike about going to these places? thanks for your answers!

I am thinking about my future and what i want to do as a career! I would adore to work in retail, but more the head office side to retail! If i started off at a Sales assistant role, could i potentially move up and receive a position within the head office of a retail company or is it only with those of A Levels and Degrees? Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thankx

Okay, so I already know about Zipia, Forever21, Sechuna, and every those very obvious Asian and American clothing websites. Can anyone name some other retail websites that they like to store from? Oh, and while we're on online shopping, anyone who has ever heard of Hetalia Axis Powers, if you know where to buy any APH related merchandise, please answer as well. :D
I'd like to find out what clothing line Liam Neeson is wearing in the A-team movie? or what style it is and what shops (retail or online ) I may be able to find this nice of clothing.
Ive noticed over the years alot of companies/retail shops etc wont hire people because of their styles/hair/makeup/choice of fashion now i understand they want smart employees, but are there any jobs out there for people who want to feel comfortable dressing how they naturally want to? i already know of jobs such as tattooing, working in alternative clothing shops etc. But i want to broaden my range of job searching, as there are very few opportunities atm in the job industries so does anybody know of any sort of jobs which would allow such things as tattoo's/ hair colour/ makeup/different styles?

Lately I’ve been starting to feel really down about my life. I’ve been with my wife since I was 21 and married since 22. We had our first child when I was 25. We have total of three kids from 3 to 10 years old now. I’ve been working for retail for 8 years as an assistant manager and my wife work part time for a school district. We finally bought a home a bit less than a year ago. Even with every of that, I can’t help it but feel like my life is extremely dull and that I missed out on so much things. It seems like every month, we’re always wrestling with our budget, every year vacation is just mediocre (usually a trip to one of our relative out of the state or something), and other things. I also am starting to resent my best pal that I’ve knew since I was sixteen. He’s a year older than me, but he has no kids or wife. He and a female pal possess a place together. He has been a part time engineering for four years and was a full time engineer for about three years before that. He seems to have everything good. Everyday when he wake up he’d go to coffee store and chill for a hour or two before work or go off to do his thing. He steer a jeep and owns a motorcycle, is always dating a new girl, go on vacation two or three times a year, taking classes at college, scuba diving, learning sky diving, and other things. Also he have been able to accomplished so much, he’s still in amazing shape despite of being in mid 30s, have a black belt in judo, was a prize kickbox fighter at one time, have climbed the tallest mountain in USA and Africa, won a couple spearfishing tournament, and many other things. He has always been very generous about inviting me and my family to do things with him or letting us borrow his things such as boat, jeep, jet ski and other things. He even helped us find the home and with down payment. He has always been a great pal. But lately I feel so envious of him. Also it isn’t helping any at every that my wife doesn’t really want to do much. We got opportunity to learn scuba with him but she didn’t want to. I was supposed to go sky diving with him a couple years ago, but she kept me from doing it. She flat out refuse to allow me has a motorcycle or receive a tattoo. I’m getting to the point where I am starting to regret many things. How can I cease this? Is this feeling even normal? I feel like my best pal has it just perfect.
I've forgotten it now, I know Parts Unlimited is the catalog the shops use for metric bikes but I can't the name of the catalog they use for Harley type stuff? thanks, Tom
am i missing any steps? at what point does a business make money? why? (EXCLUDE stocks/shareholders/etc.) 1) board of directors decide on a project 2) project goes into research and development 3) prototype is created and sent off abroad to a Chinese sweat store to mass produce 4) mass produced goods are shipped off to warehouses or vendors 5) retail stores purchase wholesale of mass produced goods from the warehouse/vendors 6) goods bought individually by consumers. you guys are useless. give me REAL ANSWERS PLEASE!
I want to work in high fashion, but I'm only a student right now. I want to gain experience and am willing to work for free organizing closets, personal styling /shopping for people...I have an extensive working knowledge of clothing, the retail market, trends, designers, what looks good on women and how to manage and stretch a budget... the only thing is I'm having a difficult time getting started and finding people to work for. I want to do it for free, but how do I receive myself out there?
I just need to know how to set these up. A contractor built 105 homes last year, some economy models and some deluxe models. The number of economy models was 3/2 the number of deluxe models. Find the number of each type of home that was built. Jane Anderson purchased a run-down, empty commercial building and plans to fix it up. The building can be used for both retail stores and office space. She thinks she can receive a total annual rent of $135,000 with 3 1/2 times as much rent coming from the retail stores as from office space. Find the rent she expects from the office space and also the rent she expects from the retail stores. Excluding managers, there are 22 full-time employees working at a big Harley-Davidson store. New employees earn $9.50 an hour, while more experienced workers average $12.90 an hour. The company spends $273.60 an hour in wages, not counting benefits. Find the number of each type of non-management worker. Profits on Nissan Altimas and Sentras average $1200 and $850, respectively, at one dealership. The total profit in a month in which they sold 120 of these models was $130,350. Find the number of each sold.

This is probably seems like an odd question. I'll clarify. When I was younger I had a variety of customer service jobs. In a customer service profession you deal with some very rude people. Some of them have legitimate complaints, obviously, and some are trying to receive free things from the company or simply expect a higher level of service than they deserve for the product or service they have selected. What I mean by that is that Domino's isn't going to serve you a gourmet pizza and if you want the red carpet rolled out before you constantly you best not store at Wal-Mart or bank with a National MegaBank. The MegaBank could care less about you and neither does Wal-mart, but they do have a lot of problem customers who are extremely high maintenance. These customers are expensive to the company because they have create significant staff to babysit them. I still don't know why retail stores don't more often 86 certain customers or banks forcibly close certain customer's account that complain too much or take up too much customer service resources. After every, who's paying for that? Yep, you guessed it. But, these businesses in effort to smash their competition to cater to these childish adults, and it breeds an enormous sense of entitlement. Thus, a vicious cycle is created where people keep demanding to receive services and products they don't deserve. This is so pervasive that is seems to spread every around society. It seems to affect how individuals treat each other. Most of us are beholden to the Corporate America to make a living. Their culture infiltrates our lives. What could be an alternative explanation? mcq - that analysis is flawed and incomplete. If 2% customers take up 50% of the customer service resources, it needs to be assessed how much that 2% spends and how much it cost to staff 50% of the customer service staff. If that number is greater than the cost to staff, they ought to be 86'ed from the store. It will keep money and force a liability upon the competition.
I've got the abilities, the steer, the ambition, the experience (not to mention a genuine interest in helping the charity, it is for quite a less known condition) to ensure I would be successful in this position. I really want this job, the advert really 'called' me. It's a job that would help me progress in my ultimate career path. How can I ensure that I impress and receive the job?
